I'm on the phone with them now. They cancelled my order because I tried applying a coupon that I forgot to apply before. So now my order is not even in place and the Dell Rep who helped me won't respond to my emails, they don't answer the line I'm getting to, and they cant tell me why they cancelled my order. Wow, I'm wondering if I should even try putting my order back or using a different company.

They drove me nuts with their incompetency as well. Right now, I'm in the process of sending back a computer I cancelled over the phone with them (so they ended up sending and charging me for TWO) and even that's been a pain in the...
But in the end, I can't beat their price so I'm going to accept it as part of the cost of getting a cheap machine. -
I have the same your situation, chat with Dell and they said only way I have to cancel and reorder again. They cannot fix anything after you already make order.

Actually, I upgraded to the Audigy software thingy (wish I hadn't since I subsequently found out it was a software solution) after placing my order and they cancelled it (maybe not as I ended up with two computers) and gave me a new order while letting me keep all of my discounts (40% off EPP coupon plus the normal 12% off).
Also, I later called back to apply another $50 coupon and was told that it was not possible on an existing order. Said okay, hung up and called back and the next rep just asked for the code and did it. Didn't even cancel.
Depends who you speak with. Learn that when you're dealing with Dell. It seems up to the individual rep and their mood rather than any company policy. -
Any change you make whatsoever with Dell requires a cancellation or reorder unless its done after receipt. Thats company policy so I dont know why you would believe they are giving you a hard time.
Secondly, a 40% off EPP coupon??? then allowed another 12%...Ide like to see that...its unheard of I think. -
I won't work with dell on consumer equipment any more. I'd consider a Latitude but not an inspiron. -
This thread is from 2006... when Dell actually had stackable discounts/coupons that worked. My 1505 was $1,781 and the discounts brought it down to $1,047. Here's the discounts I got on from 10/06:
Dell EPP/FSS customers: Save 30% off select Inspiron systems over $1299! - $534.30
ADDITIONAL DISCOUNTS AND COUPONS
Discount reflects 16% [company name] Program Discount. For [company name] employees only. Dell reserves right to cancel any orders for ineligible customers and to terminate this promotion without notice - $199.47
