So, I've been trying to reinstall this on and off for a few months, and finally got it. The reason it was so weird was because the program was installing to the x86 folder, and when you opened it, i was looking in the wrong location. So, you install the program to the program files folder, then run the dell patch.

Here's what I did. I ran the setup from the cd in vista compatibility mode and as an administrator, installed to c:\program files, ran the patch, then tried the upgrade patch. I'm not sure whether the third step was necessary, but it not, then go ahead.
