Well, go figure. Been waiting forever it seems like for this - all that talk on direct2dell and they didnt post anything.
I frequently check for Vista Driver Updates on Dell's support page. I have the M1710 and of course we all know the various issues with nVidia and the SB Audigy drivers.
I usually change the system selection to the 1210 or 2010. Sure enough, what do I come across?
'Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio for Vista' - updated on 4/20/07.
Anyone who has been waiting for this - here's the Linky...

Update...
Install went fine. Wasn't prompted for a Activation Key (this is probably due to me installing the other SB Audigy MB release from Creative's forum - I had to enter my XP Activation code at that point).
So, if you are installing this for the first time, be sure to install the Sigmatel drivers first from the Dell Support site.
Once that is complete, reboot and then run the installer for the Audigy MB software. You will probably be prompted to enter your activation code from the XP version Audigy MB cd you received with your lappie.
Hope it works for ya...
Now if Dell would only get off their tail and update the thermals / nVidia Driver for Vista... Tonight my lappie is cooking for no reason. Both fans are going and the bottom of the HDD feels like a oven... Give em a bit more time before I revert to MediaCenter XP... arrrggghhhh... -

Well just installed it and everything is fine, works like it used to.
Thanks again for that find/link -

Well it looks like i spoke to soon, All of the functions APPEAR to work you can click on them and adjust stuff but it actually changes nothing, eveything stays the same.
Any ideas?
It never asked me for my key code. Is there a way to put it in? Maybe thats why nothing is working. -
I have a rather stupid question about this. Isn't the creative sound blaster HD upgrade just a software / Driver upgrade for the sigmatel audio drivers???
I know that you can get this thing on the laptop configuration page for $15 extra (if you're customizing a dell laptop for purchase)
I have inspiron 6400 with sigmatel audio which works like crap so am wondering if this link would work with my sound card or improve performance... anybody know? -
Thanks for the update, I'll have to load this up on my 1210 when I get home! But I also need to find my CD sleeve / key for it....

well when it is functioning you have more options on adjusting the sound parameters but i havent been able to get it to work since I upgraded to vista.
I thought it was a slight improvement when it WAS working. -
Huh. All of this works stock on my e1705

I have been fighting with this software since i upgraded and nothing i do gets it to work.
If your running Vista take a look at the sound blaster audigy disk that came with your lappy and see if it has XP or Vista on it.
I paid for this software so SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET ME A COPY THAT WORKS!!! (DELL) -
Thanks a lot. Works great on my e1705.
-
I bought this laptop about two weeks ago.
My disk says Vista Rev 1 on it, but it requires an activation key when you try to run it. -

Yeah my XP version has a activation key on it. Well i guess i'll bug Dell now to give me a copy of the software thats Vista ready.Because i cant get this software to work.
Could someone who upgraded from XP to Vista and got it to work post EXACTLY what you did to get it to work?
I have tried over and over again with no success, It never ask for my activation key either. -
^^^ yeah, no kidding!! This is BIG news for me, as this is the ONE item that has given me grief since upgrading from XP to Vista. I am big into music/ dj'ing, and since Vista, I have dealt with the worst audio I am eager to get this to work on Vista as well!
I am going to try this when I get home, will report back after I try it -
Well, it installed perfectly fine, but it sounds the same What is with this, this E1705 sounded GREAT with XP, but with Vista it sounds like crap. The bass is hollow, the speakers can't handle it.. with XP, the bass was sharp, loud, bass-like Am I missing something, do I have to do something with the Audigy software to make it the primary sound software?
Gotta love Vista -

I had everything where it would appear to work, You could click on things and adjust stuff but nothing changed the sound stayed the same.
Now my next question is, This software does work with External speakers hooked up right?
I have some 2.1 Cambridge SoundWorks (creative labs) speakers hooked up, honestly they sound great I'm just trying to make it better!.
