I am pretty much impressed with Envy 17, I like its sleek looks, build quality and perfomance. But where I live, there is no option of customizing HP Laptops I want to customize it with 2nd generation Core i7, 1920 X 1080 resolution. So does Dell offer any laptop which is similar to Envy 17 in terms of look and feel and perfomance. My requirements are

    1) Intel Sandy Bridge Core i7 (Quad Core no Dual)
    2) 1920 X 1080 resolution
    3) 17.3 inch screen
    4) Backlit keyboard
    5) HD 6850 or GTX460

I've heard that Dell XPS 17 3-D has a similar specs as Envy 17 with exception of low GPU GTX 550. What is your openion? Alienware is good, but will hurt my wallat and I find ASUS G73 UGLY

This is pretty surprising. Alienware M17 which was costing around 2000 bucks with new SB CPU is costing just 1499 :D :D ? The only reason I moved from Alienware to Envy 17 was because of cost fastor. So what is the reason for sudden decline in the price?

This is probably true for all manufacturers but you can definitely haggle your price at least a few hundred bucks and/or get some perks.

I used to be the kind of person to order online and avoid having to talk to people but after reading this amazing post (from the Alienware forums here):
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/456885-aw-dell-ordering-advice-how-save.html

I have totally changed my mind about it and found some success with the art of haggling.
