When I bought my laptop, I was offered 5 years of Dell Complete Care Accidental Damage Protection even though I only had ONE year limited warranty. This was all over Dell Chat online support.

The representative assured me that I did NOT have to extend my warranty past one year in order to take advantage of five years of accidental care. In other words, I would have no coverage on manufacturer's defects past the first year, but if I dropped my laptop four years down the road, Dell would replace or repair it. This doesn't seem to make sense to me. Is this really allowed?

Has anyone else received a similar offer and/or accepted it? (I did, because it was so cheap!)

if you were to order the laptop online, Dell would require you to have the Extended warranty as long or longer than the Accidental Damage Protection.

But hey, as long as you have the accidental coverage then your good. :)

The chat log is good enough, if a rep tells you something and it's in the logs they have to honor it.
