Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this deplorable tactics Dell Chat uses. After a very unsettling chat with a customer representative, most likely from India, who clearly knew nothing about any of the questions I directed at him (for example, s/he was clueless on what Centrino was), I decided to maybe try another rep. However I was astonished to find that suddenly all their customer support agents were busy (even though the wait time was 0 minutes before).
I suspected foul play, reconnected my DSL to obtain a new IP, and suddenly wait time was 0 again. Coincidence... I think not. If you want to implement some form of spam abuse tactic, then clearly explain this and not give some -and-bull story that your agents are "busy". Absolutely despicable.

Your anecdotal story proves nothing and therefore means nothing.
Re-create this scenario several times and maybe I'll believe it.

Maybe it was a coincidence that by the time you got a new ip that the slots were actually really open and no foul play was done and your just trying to troll?

Did happen to me. All you have to do is contact support several times in a single day regarding an issue they can't resolve.

You might not be bugging them :). Happened to me recently when I was contacting them regarding system exchange. The first day I was able to get them to escalate and when I didn't get a callback after 48 hours, I started bugging them. Then after 3-4 sessions of connecting immediately, the next time I was put in a Queue with my number being 71. Tried connecting again the number came down to 50's so decided to try later. Contacted Dell next day and still had to wait for a 20+ queue. After that chat session though I did get a callback.

Also my case number was changed. And didn't have the problem since.

Could be something technical during those two days but didn't feel like it :s .

Cin you must have an xps service tag. The support is different.

Oish...that's too bad this happened to you. :(

I totally understand your frustration, at least you finally got a callback. How did that end up??

Getting a Studio1737 as a system exchange for my 1720. Had trouble with the exchange as well, wasn't better than my current configuration. So got the order canceled and the rep was nice enough to expedite things and create a new order which shipped today :D

Hopefully will get it tomorrow :).

I could see how Dell may restrict reconnects from the same IP in short periods of time to possibly defend against spammers; but then again, it could be intentional. Unfortunately, I do not think we will ever know their intentions.

I see, that's too bad. Well...the best thing of this is ~ that your order is being expedited and you will be receiving the 1737..tomorrow! So look forward to that. :D
