    Hi!

    Inspiron 1150

This is the first time I will be purchasing a laptop, online (or by phone) and from Dell.

    Two things:

    - Dell's website says there's a 59$CDN shipping on the Inspiron. I called, spoke with a salesrep and he told me I only pay 10$CDN and he gave me his extension number for when I call back. Can you experienced Dell buyers tell me what's up with that? And can I expect more "surprises" like that? [?]

    - What do you think will happen if I actually wait untill the offer ends (today) on the 1150; will the price go down? Are they going to come up with new rebates and such? From I've read, Dell has a reputation at changing their offers quite quickly.

Thanks for any advice! [ :)]

Oh, Dell changes offers on a daily basis simply depending on what quite of volume they want to drive for a given day/week. The end of a quarter they'll usually do a really good deal to sell more notebooks, but I have no insight on when their end of financial periods are in order to be able to tell you if there is a set time. Basically, the best game you can play is over a 1-month period watch the price of the laptop you want and see the lowest price it gets to and then in the next month when it touches that price again buy it. You'll go buggy waiting for a deal that's just slightly better.

In regards to shipping, I can't imagine there's some secret shipping price, but if this dude has given you his extension and will adjust the price after you've placed an order online then do it. Sounds kind of odd to me as $59 is a much more standard price and not $10CDN.

    the DELL shipping policies:
    "Q: How much is shipping?
    A:
    Desktops $139 each
    Notebooks $139 each
Peripherals (with the purchase of a system) $0
Peripherals (purchased separately of a system) $15
Because of the variety of options available, shipping cost including peripherals and other options will be provided during the check out process"

    hope this helps [?]

For the U.S. Dell usually has a free shipping promotion almost every week.
