A rep I chatted with told me to email the cart and I did. I asked him if I called him to order, if I could get a free backlit keyboard. He said Sure.
Can they lie? Because, he emailed me and said "Sure, I can get you a free backlit keyboard" but he didn't say it in the chat.
What are the chances that I'll call and get it with my Studio 15?

Until you get a quote with that included at no extra cost then yes of course they could. I would not expect them to lie though, certainly nothing I've ever experienced.

He said he will email me a price quote within 30 minutes.

E-mail him back stating to him that you will not proceed with the sale until you have the actual quote with the *free backlit keyboard* as stated.
Yes, Dell Reps have been known to *state one thing* and do the other to get a sale. It's unfortunate, that is why..when you are told these things, you always get it *in writing*. That is your only backup, if it's not followed thru.
I know..because it happened to me.
 But, I fought hard..and I won!

Edit: Did you get the price quote back?

I read your above reply wrong!

He gave me the quote without the backlit keyboard free, so I yelled at him in capital letters
. Then, he sent me the exact one, but the backlit was free now! In the end, I bought it online and just payed the stinkin $40 extra fror the backlight. Wish me luck on my order lol!

How did you manager to order it online in Canada with the backlit keyboard?
 -
I didn't take the free backlight keyboard offer. I just ordered online and payed for it all.

My mistake - I thought this was a 14z thread, and since the backlit keyboard for the 14z isn't available online I didn't understand how you got one. Now I realize the answer!
