I just bought a Dell Inspiron 1520 with Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0. I am trying to establish a connection with my Nintendo Wii controller but it will not work. When I try to skip the pairing, it won't complete once I push "skip". If I try it through the Wizard, it works but then it won't work with GlovePIE or WiinRemote (giving me a Access is Denied error).

I currently have Version 2.1.216.296 installed, do you think a firmware upgrade/downgrade would do the trick? Please help me out if you can, I would love for my wiimote to work with my new Inspiron.

    Thanks!

I have never heard that you could use the Wii remote with a computer. I was wondering in what application you would need this for? I just recently bought a Wii and might try it if it is worth it.

I'm actually working on a research project that uses wii input as 'dead assist' or, in other words, uses "steps" in a particular direction to determine where a person is.

I just want this to work with my Dell, I got it working before with the BlueSoleil USB Dongle; I think it defeats the purpose of getting Bluetooth inside my Inspiron if it doesn't work.

I wish I could be of more help. Bluetooth is picky. I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse at home and it has dropped the connection and refused to reconnect. I have to shutdown my computer, pull the batteries from the keyboard and then reboot and cross my fingers. Only happens after my computer was shutdown imporperly so I am not worried about it but is really annoying. I have also had major problems with connecting my PDA to the bluetooth. Sometimes it just will not authenticate.

Check you firewall settings. Sometimes it can block the ports needed. (only thing I can think of)

In order to perform certain operations a bluetooth device needs to have the corresponding profile. The better USB dongles (adapters) have all of these profiles, but it wouldn't surprise me if the bluetooth module in your notebook is missing the one necessary for connecting with the wiimote.

I have an older Bluetake USB adapter that does everything I want it to. Listed below are a number of profiles from the Bluetake website. They are pretty standaradized.

    Serial Port Profile
    Dial Up Networking Profile
    File Transfer Profile
    Human Interface Device Profile
    Hardcopy Cable Replacement Profile
    Headset Profile
    Object Push Profile
    Synchronization Profile
LAN Access Profile (only available in Windows)
FAX Profile (only available in Windows)
Personal Area Networking Profile (only available in Windows)
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (only available in Windows)
Audio Video Remote Control Profile (only available in Windows Media-player)
Basic Imaging Profile (only available in Windows)

    I have done this.

when you go to pair the wiimote you have to hold down one of the buttons on the remote. also try opening the battery cover and pressing the sync button when you start the pairing on your laptop.

You can use your Wii remote like a mouse? That would be sick. I've gotta learn how to do that.

Anyone having problems getting on the internet on their Wii with their computer? I need a system update so I can play Metroid Prime 3.

Yes You can use your wiimote like a mouse. You need the special software. The software even allows you to use it as a mouse with the sensor bar.

ITs cool as a novelty but not really usefull.

Majortom, I can pair the wiimote just fine, but after that the light keeps flashing indefinitely and Glovepie doesn't pick it up.

Don't know what I did, but I got it to work! At some point something came up to install drivers, which has not happened before. I going to try and see if I can reproduce it.
