    As far as I understood it, the extra 12 month warranty is just gonna be assumed on all the systems listed and we only have to call up Dell when we actually experience an issue, right?

    Yeah, it looks like if you have an issue within your regular warranty and then the extended warranty for the GPU you should have no trouble getting it fixed. Good to see that they finally made this official.

    One extra year of warranty only means to postpone the problem.
    The system will still be defective if it hasn't failed yet, and it could still be even if it failed (if the part will be replaced with another faulty card).

    And for those who expect to sell their system within 2 years, well, who do you think will buy a ticking bomb?

    Well for people who only have 1 year warranty originally then this helps them out. It essentially doubled the amount of time they know they're gonna have a good system. But for someone who hasn't bought it yet than I agree, why would they buyi it. (unless they get a 2 year or 3 year warranty on it, but that could be too much)

    Lucky for me I have a 4 year warranty and with the added year I'm good to go for college and beyond

    Thx for the update. I read a good amount of the posts, and most people are taking an extremely pessimistic stance about the issue. Despite teh fact that it was specifically stated that the defect would only be apparent with temps above 70C, a lot of people are worried their notebooks are going to die on them while they are typing a paper for school.
    Still, I do agree with them on one thing: GPUs should be replaced on harware failure AND request basis.

    I'm also wondering how they will handle GPU replacements made in the past that customers had to pay for. That is going to eat up a lot of the $200 million they allocated, as all failures even unrelated to the fault would probably be blamed on it.

    And I could imagine the nightmare of replacing overclocker's cards: "DANG GPU FAULT! I ALMOST HAD MY 8400 UP TO 8800 SPEEDS! TIME TO CALL DELL FOR A NEW CARD."
    They would probably have Dell on speed dial. :p
