So, I followed the guide to reinstalling Vista to rid my system of the infamous Dell Bloatware. However, I'm unaware of what to do from here. I have it installed and Windows has done its big automatic update. I have the Drivers and Utilities CD, MediaDirect 3.3 CD, and Soundblaster Audigy CD next to me. What next? I'd appreciate a little hand holding, I'm a bit concerned with my ignorance on the matter. Thanks in advance!

install your drivers...? I don't think it matters if you install media direct first or your video card driver....

On a side note, do people recommend reinstalling vista to get bloatware off, or is there an easier way?

On reinstalls (not sure if all this applies to vista) I go in order: Chipset, video, sound, then all the rest.

See, this is all well and good, but I dont see a video card driver for the 8600M GT? Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing? Not every piece of hardware? No? Grr, wish I were more computer literate right about now. (Holds out hand to be held)

I'm actually surprised at the lack of bloatware on my 1520. It has the least preinstalled software of my last three laptops. Of course, I did request NONE every time I was given an option.

The driver is not on Dell's site and it looks like the driver that nVidia currently has on their site doesn't support the mobile cards. Boy it's just like the good old days. I'm downloading the release notes for the latest Forceware drivers to check but we may be SOL.

Are the drivers that were installed on your computer not on the included CD?

you could just go to remove programs in the control panel and uninstall the programs you don't want. if your savvy enough you can go to regedit and delete some registry keys too...that should alright to remove most of the bloatware
