Hi... so my 1520 is going to be delivered today (Fedex: Out for Delivery ) and So im wondering is there anyway to get rid of the dell partitions without doing a clean install?
And a way to fully clean some of the bloatware included on the computer???

My 1400's out for delivery today too, only it's from DHL (Race ya ^_^). From what I read so far it seems you should be able to nuke the OS and recovery partition no problem. From there, just clean install. Also, you do need to load the SATA drivers off of a flash drive during installation.

not but wat im asking... is any way to recover the partitions without performin a clean install?

if you want to get rid of the recovery partition and the media direct partition, you can use a program like partition magic to delete them from within Vista and then merge the empty space into a single Vista partition or however you want it. as for the bloatware, you can just manually delete the programs you dont want and then run a registry cleaner to ensure all traces are gone.

you can get a free registry cleaner in CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) or you can purchase registry mechanic which cleans and repairs the registry. of course, there are other ways to get paid-for software for free.

Really, it was easy enough to do a complete vista reinstall and reload the drivers (maybe took about 1 hour) that I'd recommend that. The dvd that comes with the laptop for Vista is just the OS install; I reinstalled this, everything I had on the drivers CD, and the webcam software, and I was good to go. Front volume control buttons work without quickset, and I don't use the play/track advance/stop buttons often enough to install more software.
