I have a dell dimension 9100 laptop and i was wondering if there was an advanced bios keystroke. I would like to get into the advanced bios and see if i can over-clock this thing. if anyone can help me, i would appreciate it.

I do not think it is possible to overclock from the BIOS. BIOS' in laptops are pretty basic, nothing close to what you'd get in a desktop. Also, it's probably restricted anyway, since commercial manufacturers do not want you playing around with those type of things.

I've got a boutique gaming rig and I don't even have the option to overclock in the BIOS.

Chaz is correct. There is no way to overclock a Dell laptop via the Dell BIOS.

Is it still possible to access the advanced Bios settings (like turning off the Dell splash Screen)?

That depends on whether Dell used an Award or Phoenix BIOS on your particular model. Hit F2 or DEL on bootup to enter the BIOS and see what the options are.

To my knowledge, very few (if any) recent Dell Inspirons have the ability to disable the splash screen (though most have some sort of "quick-boot" option).

Dell (and just about everyone else) does a good job neutering the BIOS to just give you the basic options. What you see is what you get.
