    Hello,

I bought a Dell Studio 1555 in India from a vendor. The 'shipping date' mentioned in the warranty information for my system on Dell Website is Sep 10 2009. However, the warranty status says that my warranty started from Nov 10 2009, and hence 42 days are still left for the 1 year Basic Warranty to get over.

I am in the US currently and my battery performance has drastically reduced. Fully charged battery runs for about an hour instead of 3 hours, which it used to initially. The battery health LED meter on the battery lights up all the 5 leds when button is pressed. Ubuntu also constantly reminds me that my battery might be broken.

I wanted to know two things. First, am i still eligible for the replacement of the battery, given that its already more than a year from the shipping date? However, 42 days are remaining for the POW (Parts only warranty) to get over.

Secondly, I bought the laptop in India, but I am in the US right now. Can I still get the battery replaced here?

    Thanks

    IS

Is it covered by the Dell India or Dell USA warranty? It can make a difference. If the battery isn't reporting properly after 11 months, that might be warranty material. If it's just diminished capacity, I doubt it'd be covered.

Regardless of the total warranty, the battery only has a one-year warranty. The warranty expire date is the only date that matters, and since you have 42 days remaining, you're OK. Give Dell a call and see what they can do for you.

Thanks for posting this thread. I also face a similar issue with my Dell inspiron 14R. I recently bought it from Dell bangalore. I recide in Hyderabad. From day one my battery runs out pretty fast. when fully charged the maximum time it gives me is at max 60min. Should i take this to the local dealer and enquirer if i am eligible for a replacement.
