From a link of your link...

By Charlie Demerjian: Friday 16 December 2005

"DELL IS RECALLING a bunch of notebooks, something about fire and the like.
    If you have a Latitude D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800 or D810, an Inspiron 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2, a Dell Precision M20 or M70, and have not caught fire, you probably want to call 866-342-0011"

Not sure if that means the E1505/6400 is safe or not..

I don't know but, why would the inquirer make big claims like this without some truth in it. If they make this stuff up, they can get sued by dell for giving bad publicity.

Who cares? It's for the safety of everyone, atleast they're trying to make sure people don't get hurt.

I would contact Dell to see if there's any truth in this before jumping to conclusions. However, I can see why Dell might recall these batteries given their recent past history.

I hope my soon-to-arrive notebook already comes with the new batteries. I don't intend on waiting more for a new battery to arrive so I can use my notebook.
