    i recently bought new battery on the net which was not original dell for my inspiron 6400, but as battery not authentic dell it will not charge. can anyone :( buy new dell battery

    Are you asking whether it is possible to buy a new Dell battery? If so, the answer is yes; just look on eBay for genuine Dell batteries; you'll find a ton of 'em.

    That being said, most not genuine batteries should work fine (at least initially). You might want to make sure you're not having a problem with your system before buying another battery.

    sorry mate, no the new battery i have is not dell and therefore will not charge,is there anything i can do or do i need to buy new dell battery.

    An aftermarket battery should be able to charge. Are you getting a blinking orange battery LED? Does Windows detect the presence of a battery?

    yes i am getting blinking orange light, computer recognises that its not dell battery

    Does the same happen with the original battery? What does the BIOS tell you about the batteries?

    If the original one works, I would return the new one or file a chargeback if you paid with credit, aftermarket ones should at least be able to work, but of course, they won't perform as well as OEM. Here is a link to an OEM one:

    thanks mate, think it will be easier to use your link and buy new. bios shows 1 per cent of life in battery. it charged fully on first insertion, but after that not at all.
