Hi guys I was just wondering what the community thinks of design of the new Dell Adamo.

Please vote on the two based on a purely design perspective without basing your opinions on specs.

The Dell Adamo design, I find, is way way better than the MBA. But the price to spec ratio is absolutely rubbish. Just like one of those Vertu phones... adorned with gems on the outside and negligible features inside :)

    Hey,
I am more apt for the Adamo..I suppose purely on design..but not the price.

And, just a FYI..there is already this ongoing Adamo thread here:

I say MBA because the Adamo looks more like a MacBook instead of the Air, at least that's how it looks to me. Price and specs also goes to the Air.

Adamo. I even like that little "shelf" on the back.

bridge86, it really depends, here you've posted this highly subjective question, all fine, but innn Dell section? might that influence the results? :)

I totally agree. I couldn't post it in both Apple and Dell forums or I'd get slapped for double posting.

Yeah, don't want that...;( Maybe it could be placed in the Notebook Costmetic Modifications forum??...Because, your talking about the design *cosmetics* :D? Alas, there were no *mods* done to it, though....

I'm actually going to say that, out of all the luxury ultraportables released recently, I like the HP ENVY 133 design the most. Then the Lenovo X300/X301. Then between the Adamo and the Air, I prefer the Adamo.

I'm just not very fond of the rear of the Adamo; I can see how it would be impossible to fit an Ethernet port in the side of that laptop, but that doesn't really make it any less inelegant.

That way it will pay for the ones I'm keeping ;) :D

Now, if only the Adamo was *realistically priced*

I have seen and used the macbook air. It is absolutely flawless! It has no problems with the build quality. I can't say the same for the dell adamo after i have seen pictures at engadget. However, this is a huge step forwards for dell towards producing premium notebook and concerning connectivity, the dell adamo blows away the macbook air. But the macbook air is more aggressively priced! It also features better graphics card than the dell adamo. Having used a dell vostro 1700 in the past, i'm happy to say that the adamo is beautiful and "perfect" for a dell product!

Heh, the poll isn't too surprising considering that this is a Dell forum. On the Apple forums it's the complete opposite - the Air is preferred by a landslide over the Adamo by Apple users.

I have both an Apple and a Dell now, and am about the farthest thing from an Apple fanboy you can find, but I still think the Air looks better. I could very well be biased since I own the Air, but the Adamo is really closer to my Macbook Unibody than the Air. With an SSD drive in my Macbook it weighs about 4 pounds too. It has roughly the same shape. The closest thing to the Adamo in looks is the black Macbook.

I think the Air, Sony Z, Lenovo X301, etc are in a completely different class than the Adamo. You really cannot compete in this segment until you've gotten down to 3 pounds in weight. Most people in this segment prefer how light it is to how thin it is, as most of us travel with these notebooks frequently on flights and the weight is what counts.

Put the Adamo down for me. The materials and texture look really nice to me. I owned an Air and it is a nicely made machine, but the Adamo literally makes me drool. I really want one, but the specs are a bummer for the price.

The Adamo is a great machine for what it is designed for. It is not a performance machine but was intended for the travel savvy business man. The specs are great if you want great battery performance and for how thin this machine is anything higher specs may create heating issues. It would be cool if Dell produced a new XPS that looks just like the Adamo but thicker.

Love the design for the Adamo, yet so pricey these days. Still, I will go with the Adamo design over the MPA design. :)

The Adamo is definitely winning when it comes to styling. The question is will that be enough? Lowering the price a little & improving the specs slightly would probably do the trick so perhaps waiting for the 1st revision would be smart advice for those people interested in the Adamo. Then again, it looks so good, I may not heed my own advice. :D

I wonder how people will react to the Adamo 16 and its specs/price?

Remember the bias though. This is a Dell forum so it should be winning. On an Apple forum it quite obviously is the reverse. On most neutral web sites, and even some Apple hating web sites, the Air wins out over the Adamo. Look at the comments on engadget just to see what the rest of the world thinks of the Adamo design. It ain't pretty.

If there was a apple on the Adamo, those comments on engadget would be a little different. There are a lot of people out there that put Dell in the same category that many put Walmart in, the brand/place to shop for "them", not "us". ;)

The design of the MBA is light years ahead of the Adamo. I think the Adamo is gonna be a flash in the pan for Dell.

Guess the apple logo makes the difference..Frankly for me the new unibody macbook's look a tad less attractive design wise than the earlier gen macbooks..They definatley have superior build quality than the previous macbooks but are less appealing to the eye..

The Adamo on the other hand just looks awesome both build and looks..moreover the keyboard design is beautiful and original..unlike Apple who picked it up from Sony..

My take is they are both very attractive ultra portables. The MBA seems to offer the better overall value unless you absolutely crave the latest Intel CPU. If that's the case then you can make a good case for the Adamo.

The shape. The adamo is just a laptop that has a squarish design. Weren't the very first laptops like that. I am also wondering how people will like the keyboard for functionality.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Since I haven't actually seen the Adamo it's difficult to decide.
