We have around $800 in credit on Dell's Preferred Account. I only learned today that I cannot use the Preferred Account when purchasing a Vostro 1500, as its 'small business'. I had the Vostro configured to be under our limit, so knew we could afford it.

So I thought, alright, I'll configure an Inspiron 1520. They're the same system, right? Wrong. Oh so wrong. The Inspiron costs *a lot more* for a lot *less* (80gb hd and 1gb mem in comparison to Vostro's already-included-in-price 120gb hd and 2gb mem).

Is there *any way* to use our credit on a Vostro purchase? :/

That's strange because I wanted to buy a vostro 1500 and end up with an inspiron 1520 because inspiron was couple of hundred dollars less than vostro

as of right now vostro has a $384.00 instant discount and inspiron has $300.00 off coupon

if you can spend more than $800.00 than try to config inspiron for at least $1199.00 and use a $300.00 off coupon and for only $899.00 you'll get more powerful machine with much better specs than vostro you have configed

if you can't spend more than $800.00 than just make sure that you use this coupon code TPT4DGZDQ38MFS to save $200 off (must configure price above $899.00 to get discount)

For some reason, it's not letting me use that coupon; my total config is priced above $1,000. :/ Says the coupon code is not eligible.

I've just tried myself and it works just fine. Even on exactly $899.00 system a $200.00 coupon off of the price works and on exactly $1199.00 system a $300.00 coupon off of the price works too

also you will get a $50 Gift Card on systems $749 - $998 (cards to arrive in 6-8 weeks) or you will get a $100 Gift Card on systems $999 - $1248 (cards to arrive in 6-8 weeks)

Well, you're lucky then. :p I keep getting the "Coupons Entered

Ah, nevermind. Customer Service FTW! Seriously, they rock.

I initially called because, at checkout, logging/"autenticating" my DPA wasn't working. But by the end, the rep had not only worked the $200 off coupon in, but had adjusted the order so it fit under our DPA credit budget. (Lost the mouse and sleeve, but hey, thats what the gift card is for, right?)

What I am curious about now, though, is how DPA works exactly. Didn't want to make another topic about it. We had around $760 credit built up on DPA. After the Inspiron purchase, its now down to $12 something.

So... did the DPA credit essentially pay for the purchase? As in, completely? Nothing extra that we need to pay? I'm sorry, I'm definetly new to this.

it will depend how much was your purchase? and if you had credit what kind of credit was it. is it from a previous purchase that was already paid for. if not then you will still have to pay back the dpa account. if this was credit for a item or items that have been paid already then you will not have to pay anything extra.. see what i mean

The Inspiron, after chatting with CS, fit under our accrued limit. Total purchase charges: $752.29. Amount left on DPA is $12.03.

The credit is from a previous purchase, yes - a desktop mum ordered - but the previous purchase isn't paid in full, yet. Still paying on it (damn interest that piles up >_>)
