Gday, I bought the 9300 about a month ago, and all is well, however i have not been running programs taking up a huge amount of proc. speed (i have 725, 1.6Ghz). However my gf bro loaded The Sims and it needs 1.4Ghz... Thats when i went to "properties" in my computer and noticed my reister current speed was 605 mhz.

I have now discovered on the first boot, my comp starts at 605mhz (however in bios it says 800mhz)!! But when i restart the comp it bumps up to the correct 1.6Ghz. Any ideas anyone?

I have contacted dell and they believe this is what is supposed to happen...but really...a 1.6Ghz comp is NOT supposed to run at 605mhz...

    Thanks for any help!

The processor running at 600MHz is due to EIST(or speedstep) which decreases the clock speed & voltage when the processor is under little stress or not under 100% usage. The Windows properties menu is also known to give inaccurate readings for mobile processors with this feature.

Try centrino hardware control, you an use it to control the processor speed and other settings. Also if you want the processor to run at max speed then change the power settings from "Portable/Laptop" to either "Always On" or "Home office".

You can get CHC from here...
