I am looking for a notebook to do work, hardcore gaming and general usage. Which machine would be better? Money is not necessarily the object. But of course its always nice to save money also. Thanks in advance for your help. Also is there much difference between 2.00 and 2.13 processor speed in XPS?

If you are a HARDCORE gamer, like play all the latest games and want to run then at amazing speeds then the XPS2 is for you. The XPS2 comes with the Nvidia GeForce GO 6800 ultra, is about double the performance of the base 6800 that is offered in the 9300. By no means is the 9300 weak, it will be able to play all the latest games but not at the blistering speeds the XPS2 will run them. The 9300 has about a 3-3.5 hour battery life just surfing and general use. The XPS2 has been tested too around 2-2.5 hours. Both come with the same screen, same type of ram, and hardrive, XPS 2 only has one higher option on the processors. Main, difference is that graphics card, which will make a big jump in game performance, the battery and the looks. The XPS2 gets little LED lights to light it up and give it that "Cool" feel.

For the difference between processors, really only worth getting the 2.13 if you want to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the system and get the best possible 3dmark score you can. [ ;)] So really, only if you want it, not worth it.

My opinion, i got the I9300. My setup is my sig, i got that setup for $1886 shipped, thats with tax. A great deal to me and a system where i can be mobile and still play the latest games. I also prefer the look of the 9300, i don't need all the flash and lights. Mind you this is through the small business site with only 1 year mail-in warranty. (Note: changing my warranty from 3 years onsite service to 1 year mail-in rebate saved me 418 dollars!!)

Just some ideas for you to take in!

    *Dell Inspiron 9300, P-M 1.86ghz 533mhz FSB, 1GB DDR2 533mhz ram, 17inch UXGA+ screen with TrueLife, 256mb Nvidia GeForce 6800, 60gb 7200rpm drive, XP Pro SP2, WiFi*

*Sony MDR-G74SL Headphones for music and gaming, best 40 dollar pair i have ever bought!*

Well, the XPS2 has a 6800Ultra, thats the biggest difference. Your looking at a core/memory of 450/1100 as opposed to 275/600. Rather large difference there. Besides that, no difference as far as i know.

The procc difference is exactly what it is - 113mhz. If thats enough for you go for it. You looking at maybe ~3% in games.
