I'm not sure, maybe, but wouldnt it be very expensive, and if you get the 1.86(?) you'll be fine. But def get more ram, thats very important! I wouldnt get the ram from dell though, its overpriced.

You can, but it may not make as a cost-effective difference; certainly not as significant a difference as increasing ram amount, having a larger HD, increasing HD speed, or having a 6800 gpu rather than a X300 (the choice a budget option would make).

If you don't get the 6800 graphics card, why are you even looking at the i9300, why not the i6000?

I agree, the I9300 should only be bought because of the 6800 card. Otherwise get a 6000. I suppose the 17inch widescreen may make you want the 9300, but without the card to run it well, go with something smaller.

Yes! That's the selling point of the i9300 - the Go6800.

Forget the 9300 if you're not getting the 6800. Dellguy is right - i6000 is a much better fit. ;)

don't buy into the hype over processor speed. as the user dealing with day to day tasks, you'll see a bigger performance gain with more RAM and a faster HD.

The i9300 is not just the gpu. It has a much bigger screen for starters. The i6000 is a completely different category, and from the start this question was about which configuration i9300...not: "should it be a i6000" or D810 or D610 or whatever. The i9300 with a X300 more or less equals a big-screened i6000 - i.e the choice of the X300-powered i9300 over the i6000 is mainly due to its enormous screen. As for the gpu, for most uses other than the recreational, the 6800 is not superior to the X300. In battery life, heat levels/fan noise, and cost, it is inferior. One gets the idea that this i9300 is for maximum benefit for school use, in which case gaming (read: distraction, recreation) prowess is a negative, not a positive.

"the 6800 is not superior to the X300"

For everything the 6800 is superior, from menu's to word, excel and, anything, the whole operating system works faster with a 6800.

There is no comparison, 6800 improves general performace and turns an average notebook experience into something enjoyable.

Well at least thank god that Dell made two similair notebooks so if you werent an intense gamer, you would have at least get the 6000. Dell was smart in doing that, making two identical models with just different screen sizes and with a great graphics card on the 9300. My Vote is for the 6000, because like otheres said, its worth less unless you get the 6800 graphics on a 9300. But it is okay to get a less powerful graphics. Its always nice to have a 1.6 inch bigger screen size than the 6000.

Actually they are not identical in terms of everything except the graphics and screen, the 9300 has Intels top of the line chipset which not only supports the superior graphics, but is also much better performing in term of meory handling of the ram and graphics.

To me I would not compare the two, 9300 is far better in most aspects.

I recently purchased a dell 9300 with 6800 GPU, I am been curious how well will my system perform compared to others.

    Its a P 740 1.76 / 1 Gig Ram / 60 gb 7200 HD / 6800 Go card.
