I need a new laptop that has the capability of running Studio 8 video editing software. One of the requirements is that the hard drive and its controller be capable of handling a sustained data transfer rate in excess of 4Mb/sec. I need to know if the 60Gb 7200 rpm drive provided by Dell for this notebook is capable of this sustained rate.
Any feedback from users of this computer who are into video editing, would be most welcome. I am currently using a Sony TRV30.

looks nice
Check out Sager too maybe.
I actually just ordered the 8600 with 7200 RPM drive, but my main purpose isn't video editing. I think it would be OK for video, but not ideal. -
Are you open to Apple machines at all? They excel at things like video editing.

Looks like pinnacle studio 8 is windows only. Is there a good reason you require this software? It doesn't seem to be anything special compared to other video solutions on PC or MAC

Brian- Why are Macs better at Video? Don't the specs of the machine matter?
