I have ordered a refurbished laptop from Dell but unfortunately didn't realise it is the one without the 8gb Cache on the hard drive. I am wondering if this will make a huge difference to performance when working with Photoshop or video editing software. I am not sure if these software programs write to the hard drive as they are running and making changes to photos.

I read that Seagate said a hard drive with an 8gb cache is almost equivalent to an SSD although I am not sure if that is true. Has anyone with the 8gb cahce 5400 drive found it to be anything other than fast??

Also has anyone got the basic 5400 drive and found it works well enough for most things?

There's nothing wrong with using a regular mechanical hard drive, but the SSHD will definitely be faster.

I was just going by the statement from the manufacturer. Anyone know about differences in speed between 5400 hard drive, and 5400 cache 8gb?
