    Dell 700m memory install slots importance

    Does it matter where you install a larger size ram? For example, if you already have a 2X256mb ram chip, and you purchased a 1gb ram from newegg, which slot should you install the 1gb? The slot underneath the keyboard or the slot under the laptop?

    I think I read somewhere that it's better if it's under the keyboard. If that is the case, why?

    Um, I think that the one under the latch on the back side of the laptop only has 1 x 256 mb. So I guess you take it out and replace it with the 1 GB stick. Not sure if it matters which slot you use.
