I looked under Dell Accessories and there is no option to burn a copy of winXP. I guess I'll have to call them and ask them to mail me the cd?

it should be under start-->programs-->Dell Folder-->Dell OS Recovery Disk. If its not there, then try restarting your system a few times. If that doesn't work, then call dell.

Really weird, I tried that link 3 times now and I get the same response. I clicked on here and input the same information and still get that response.

Based on the information you provided, our records indicate you are not a home or home office customer. Currently we only offer chat for our home and home office customers. Please click here for alternative contact options.

did you order you laptop thru dell business? I would try emailing them (tech support) or calling them instead. It might take longer, but at least you don't have to deal with chat.

Yes, Dell is trying to be cheap. But most of us didn't have a choice but to burn our own copy. Dell only recently (like within the last month) started offering their customers a chance to buy a backup cd for 10 bucks when they ordered a new system. Yet, they haven't been shipping CDs with their systems since Feb. All of those users from Feb til July can either use the recovery program or fight with Dell to get the CDs. I did both...

That option doesnt exist. I can jump on my laptop and take a screen shot if you dont believe me. There is only two options under dell accessories, no os recovery disk.

well its not the first time that this has happened. Call Dell and explain to them that there is no option, and you want to reformat your system. They might try to talk you into using the restore partition, but don't do it (ctrl + F11). It will just put the junk stuff back on there.

thats really weird. well if you have your own copies of winxp might as well format that dell computer and put your own stuff in. thats what i did. all of dell's stuff is useless to me. also you can try chatting with dell. its like a new tech support thing.
