    Hey everyone,

I just bought an Inspiron 700M from an ebay seller and it comes standard with 256 MB of RAM in one slot. I'm purchaaing an add'l 512 MB of RAM and was going to install it myself. Before I do that, can someone tell me which slot the 256MB of standard RAM fills and which one is vacant? (i.e. Lower Memory Module or Upper Memory Module?) Also, any recommendation on brands/vendors for a 512 SODIMM module for this laptop?

    Thanks!

Turn off all the power and remove battery, wait for 10 minutes. Your memory chip goes in Dimm A, if you add more put into Dimm B, I just did that to increase mine by 512MB. If you did it right when you power back up and add the batery, do a Contol Panel check on CPU *system*. If the memory has increased you will see it there as I seen mine in the same place. Your system recognizes the memory additon and prints out then figures automatically. I hope this answers your question and good luck with things bought off of www.eBay.com online auction.[ :)]

I just ordered a 700m. I read somewhere that there is only one user accessible slot for RAM. Is this true? it didn't make sense to me, since the 700m is capable of accepting 2g (1+1). anyways, is slot A easy to access? I want to buy a 1g and use it as primary. i had disassembly pdf file for my last dell laptop. does anyone know if one exists for the 700m? if so, where can i get it? has the 700m changed since it was first released? i was reading some places about weak touchpad and touchpad buttons. any problem with the plastic cracking around the cover hinges? i had this problem on my previous dell laptop. now that people have had the 700m for a while, how is it holding up? thank you
