I have dell 700m. I just replaced my speakers cuz the wires broke. The laptop was on (stupid mistake) as i screw everything back together. WHen i was puttin in the inverter board scew the lcd went blank. The lcd turns on but there isnt' any backlighting.

is it the inverter board? or do i need a new lcd?

If there is not any backlighting, you blew out the CCFL light. Generally, you can only replace that by replacing the entire LCD screen...and you might want to check eBay or the Dell Outlet for a replacement. Or get a new notebook if you have issues finding the part for less than a few hundred.
