Hello all. I have a half-year old Dell 600m, and I have been experiencing the well-reported problem with choppy framerates after playing a game for a certain period of time. My laptop's using the version A16 BIOS, and I've heard that since version A07, they changed their thermal algorithms to basically half the processing power when the RAM reaches a certain temp. So all the recommendations are to downgrade the BIOS to A06, or earlier.

My question is, is this safe to do? Will I lose anything that I don't want to lose? Basically, is it worth it to downgrade the BIOS, and has anyone here done it before (in reference to the gaming issue)?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the pros and cons of downgrading BIOS?

I've never downgraded a BIOS before, but I've heard that you need to burn them to a CD and not use the HDD method. The HDD method gives you to many problems.

I was googling around a found a website that might be helpful. This one has the BIOS version that you wanted and is ready to be burned to a CD (scroll to bottom) http://www.bay-wolf.com/flashbios.htm

It looks like alot of 600m users did downgrade. It looks like the downgrade does fix the gaming issue
