    Hey guys:

    Although this is my first post, I've been a long time "lurker" of this site. I would like to thank all the guys and gals that frequent this site for your knowledge and useful advice.

    I just wanted to give you guys a heads up, Dell has released a bios update for the Inspiron 6000 (the new version is A05). Here's the summary of the fixes and enhancements (from Dell website):

    Fixes:
    ======

    1. Fixed issue in which some USB devices may stop working after
    resuming from Standby if the device is configured to wake the
    system from Standby.

    Enhancements:
    =============

    1. Updated the ATI MOBILITY Radeon X300 video BIOS to
    version 8.17M.192.058.

    The BIOS release has been validated on the following operating system:
    1. Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
    2. Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2

    Anyways, just a heads up. Love the site and the people here are helpful.

    Dell Inspiron 6000
    Pentium M 2.0 GHz 533 FSB
    Sonoma platform
    512 MB RAM
    Intel 2915 Wireless a/b/g
    DVD+/-RW
    15.4' WUXGA Screen
    60 GB 7200 RPM drive

    Thanks for the note. I installed the new Bios.

    What does "Updated the ATI MOBILITY Radeon X300 video BIOS to
    version 8.17M.192.058." mean? What kind of improvement is this?

    sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do we upgrade to the new BIOS? and how beneficial is it if we have the integrated graphics (like I do?)....

    here's the link for the technically challenged people like myself....

    But someone please still tell me if it's necessary to update to the latest BIOS if I have integrated graphics and currently have no problems with USB devices..... *knock on wood*
