    Hello peeps,

I purchased a dell 2408wfp (Nice monitor), I hooked my ps3 to the monitor's HDMI port, I get a beautiful picture full 1080p, but I get no sound. I have a pair of speakers that attaches to the bottom of the monitor (dell model # as501). Does anyone have a setup like this or something similar?

    Thanks,

    1eye

Does the 2408wfp (looks like a freaking great monitor, I have the 2407), support audio through it's HDMI port? Remember, just because it has HDMI, doesn't mean it supports audio.

Ooh< iwas under the impression that it has HDMI then you would get video and sound. But I do see a port on the bottom of the monitor (HDMI audio out). Do I have to plug my speakers into that port for HDMI? What about playing a movie for my laptop how would I get sound from the computer?

How about getting real speakers hooked up to your ps3. Those sound bars stink.

The HDMI input is split into the picture you see on the screen and an audio output underneath the display that enables audio redirection to any attached 2.1 setup (including those nasty little Dell 'soundbars' you can buy.)

There are no speakers built into the '2408', which is a waste of the HDMI's combined A/V functionality quite frankly.

I have the 2408 with my PS3 and my 360 hooked up to it, the 360 has the HDMI port and i DO get sound with my sound bar thru HDMI, when i hooked the ps3 up to it i got sound as well, make sure u change the sound settings to go thru HDMI, but remember there is a problem with the ps3 because the games play in 720 so when the system takes ur settings of 1080 and changes them to 720 the sound thru HDMI is all static. It really sucks, but if u google "ps3 HDMI problem" you'll see what im talking about. But while looking at the main screen where u would select a game i get sound thru HDMI on my 2408.

Thanks Guys, I didn't notice the sound out port on the bottom of the monitor. If I were to get a nice speaker setup, would it be possible for me to share the sound with both the lappy and the ps3?

Sure, whatever's plugged into that HDMI port on the monitor will be the audio that passes through to the attached sound system on your desk.

Bear in mind however that it won't be a true 5.1 surround sound feed though. So a good 2.1 setup would suffice.

Hey all, i was wondering if you could help me with the exact same problem

I also bought the 24" 2408 and connected it via the hdmi port on the back of the monitor to my xbox 360. The only thing is i have logitech Z-10 speakers which go into my PC via USB. Is there a way to get them to work for my xbox games?

If not i have an old pair of speakers that i got with an earlier dell which have a green axillary cable. However when i plug it into the HDMI audio our port at the back of my monitor there is still no sound :(

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks guys :D Tr3ix
