I am adding this LCD monitor for home use on my notebook (New HP w/ 64 AMD). I do not have the DVI connection on my notebook (don't know of any notebooks that have these built into video card yet) so am going to either use VGA or s-video(monster cable) connection. My question is regarding clarity, resolution, etc. between s-video and VGA connections. I have been told VGA is better by someone and told S-video is better by another. Anyone else hook their notebook up to a nice LCD and know the answer? Thanks a lot!

The Dell 9300 has a DVI port. You will be fine using VGA though. I run two 23" 91200 LCDs through VGA.
S-video is for connecting to a television. It is slightly better than the regular RCA connection, and many times worse than VGA. It's maximum resoltion is about 720x480.

Thanks for the input. I thought VGA was better than S-video but I had been told different.
I actually really love my notebook. Don't know all the specs, but it got AMD athlon 64 2Hz, 1 gig ram, 80 hard drive and 1280 by 800 x-brite 15.4 wide.I don't know the specs on the video card, but it supposedly the best coming w/ the 64 athlon right now. The screen is unreal and if I could reproduce this exact glossy, clear picture in a 23" monitor I would need nothing more in life. I get my Dell 20.1 today and sure it will be good though. To be honest I haven't tried any games yet. I do view a lot of CAT scans, x-rays, MRI's from cd's (radiol resident) and they come across very clear on the notebook. Am looking forward to viewing them on a larger monitor. What type of 23" monitors did you purchase? A 23" lCD would have been absolutely ideal for me I just didn't have the $$. Thanks.
