    1) You can use any 800MHz FSB Socket P processor. The best chip is the T9500; the best value is probably like a T8100 or T8300. You cannot use 1066MHz FSB Socket P processors.

    2) Everything Socket P is 64bit capable.

    3) According to Dell the maximum officially support memory is 4GB. The chipset should support up to 8GB, though. As with the Inspirons 1520 and 1720, I'd say 6GB is a good bet, though maybe not the full 8GB.

    4) I doubt any of this will help your gaming. That's most likely GPU limited and the GPU can't be upgraded here.

You cannot upgrade the internal GPU on the 1735. Period. You can look up something called the ViDock that may or may not work with your system to get external graphics... but I think it's less trouble just to sell the 1735 and buy a machine with a better GPU. Even a DIY ViDock isn't necessarily cheap.

Studio 1735 had a T4200-2.0 or T6400-2.0 option. Meaning a T6600-2.2 would probably work. T8100-2.1/T8300-2.4/T9300-2.5 have superlfm, IDA and more cache, so are better options though will be pricier.

Cheapest option would be a T3200-1.8 or T3400-2.16, either of which could be BSEL overclocked to 800Mhz FSB to run 2.4Ghz and 2.6Ghz respectively.

lol if he doesn't know what CPU his laptop can take, I don't think he plans on modifying the socket for overclocking.

And yes Commander Wolf is correct, any 800 FSB Core 2 Duo. And your GPU is stuck at where it is. Next time you purchase a notebook buy higher end discreet GPU up front.
