I am going to cancel my Dell order today. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can purchase that will be comparable to the 1720 I had ordered in my sig? I was thinking of getting an HP Pavillion DV9500T?

I just want to know my options out there and if anyone has any suggestions before I cancel my Dell order....I would appreciate any help you can give me!

I just cannot wait any longer for my Dell.....I really wanted it badly but 8-9 weeks is getting a bit much for a wait and then who knows once the 28th comes if I will even see it then or if they will just delay it out further.

The Dv9000 series is a pretty good choice IMO. But you will be getting a weaker card in the form of the 8600GS. It's looks a lot better than the Dell though.

Thanks. I don't plays any games at all, my lappy is for surfing the net, I maintain several websites and stuff like that. I just cannot wait any longer for a new lappy as the monitor on my old inspiron 2500 has gone out.

I seem to be in the same situation...considering the dv9500t. I ordered my 1720 on July 16th and it is now pushed back until August 28th. Although I love the Dell, I think 44 days is too long to wait. If anyone has any experience with the dv9500t I'd appreciate your input so I can decide to cancel my Dell order or just wait.

The HP dv9500t is a good alternative. The video card is an 8600 GS, so it is a little weaker than the 1720 video card. The case is made of plastic and not aluminum magnesium, so the build quality is much less. However, the HP is a little lighter, which makes it more portable. Have you looked into Sager/Clevo?

EDIT: Do you play many video games? If you do not play many video games, you might not need a discrete video card.
