    Hi all,

I'm using Dell Inspiron 1720 and the screen just abruptly die on me the other day. After much research on the subject, I think it is the lamp failure (screen starts with pinkish color, fade out after a few minutes at first; after rebooting so many times, it starts all black now but you can still see windows with a flashlight). I can find 1720 lcd replacement on Amazon for just under 80$. My question is that my old screen is WXGA+, so can I buy the WUXGA one, will it just fit into the screen?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

WUXGA stands for resolution standards and it will work with the Inspiron 1720. Please ensure that the physical specifications of the screens are the same.
Please find below the link to view/download the service manual of Inspiron 1720. You may refer to the same if required.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

You can use a WUXGA screen in the 1720. Make sure you get a screen from a 1720 or another Dell laptop of the same generation (M1730, M6300, probably M1710, too). You may need to buy a new display cable; not 100% sure.

You could also try replacing the inverter first.
