Just installed Vista Ultimate x64, and I can't seem to find the touchpad drivers.

    Any help?

    Thanks.

Use Windows Update to see if it picks it up. Typically Windows Update is able to pick up all the compatible drivers for your hardware.

    Haha sure. :)

But Windows Update didn't notice it, and I tried to get it to install a new one automatically and to no avail.

It won't let me scroll, so I am assuming its not the right driver.

Thats means there are no 64-bit versions available. The touchpad you have in your 1730 is most likely an Alps Touchpad like all the other 1730s. Alps has a track record for making drivers for the OEMs, not the end users. Which is why they only made a 32-bit driver and not a 64-bit one.

I'm sorry to say that if you want to use your manufacturers' drivers, then you will have to switch back to 32-bit, because no matter how hard you look, the 64-bit version I can tell you right now, does not exist.

That is bad news, but not a big deal.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Here's Alps touchpad 64 bit driver, if that's what you have.

Here's Synaptics touchpad 64 bit driver, if that's what you have.

Apparently, Alps didn't make any, Dell made a generic driver that is a modified version of the Synaptics touchpad drivers which is that that Alps Touchpad 64 bit driver is. Its not actually specifically for Alps and was never made by Alps as well. If you are missing any other drivers... this would be a useful thread:
