Hi,
Just got my first Dell Studio 1535 last week. I am having some serious issues with it. First, it came without OS as I have Vista business SP1. Second, the mics dont work at all when I first installed windows and the drivers. There was a cacle sound too each time I played audio... but all that I fixed.
It came with a 5400 rpm WD 250 GB that I took out and replaced with my Seagate 7200 200 GB.
The first time I installed the OS, all the devices in the system were okay with the drivers. With the new drive installed, I reinstalled the Os and now I have a whole bunch of Bluetooh devices without drivers and an UNKNOWN device.
What the hell could they be???
System:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz.
3 GB RAM.
Seagate 7200.2 200 GB.
ATI 3450.
Windows Vista Business SP1.
ViewSonic 26" V2640W.
I have NO input from the two mics that are digital near the cam. Tried everything in the audio panel. I do not want to give the thing in service for a month for a mic fault.
The thing with the drivers missing is bothering me.
My Winidows rating thing was at 4.0 when I first installed the OS on the 5400 drive. When I redid the thing, I came down to 3.8 lowest on the video
Please help... I am attaching the system Device Manager shots.

you can buy a dell with no os? i was not aware of this...where can i do this?
anyways when you reinstall windows you usually have to go through the process of getting drivers for everything...
looks like for finger scanner and bluetooth -
Yes you can. They are called the N Series. And have a 'n' sticker where the OS sticker goes near the mousepad. I live in Dubai and got one here. Talked to a sales lady too in US who had the non-OS versions, but refused to ship out of US.
I have insttalled ALL the drives I could think of off the Dell DVD. -
im pretty certain one of them is the CIR infrared driver.. i remember having this problem when i re-installed windows. however, up till now i still have 2 unknown bluetooth device, searched for ages and still no idea what they are. it doesnt performance or features in anwyay tho

The Dell driver disc might not have had all of the latest drivers. Here is the link to grab the ones you think you might be missing.

Chaugh: I am having the same issue. But prformance is good.
Atbnet: Thanks for the link buddy. But I dunno what driver I am looking for here! I will see if installing all of them overtime helps? -
I fixed the unknown hardware issue, it was the CIR. Thanks CHAUGH!
Now I have three Bluetooth devices with no drivers. and a unfunctional mic! The one by the camera does nothing. -

yeah I meant it came with a non-Windows OS system.

i'll tell u another weird thing about my system.. if i turn the wireless off, 2 of the unknown bluetooth devices dissapears, but if i turn wireless and bluetooth on again, i have 2 unknown devices. however, i have installed the wireless and bluetooth drivers and they work great, so im ignoring them. i dont reember having a problem with the mic when i reinstalled windows.. in device manager under sound do u have the high defnition audio device AND a IDT high definition codec?
-
I did not install the IDT... that was even worse... POP CLICK CLACK sounds all the time. Instead there is this other ASIO$ALL v2 that I installed and it helped clean it all up. The digital array crap still does not work!
GOOD NEWS about the Bluetooth devices... I FIXED IT! Go to Bluetooth icon in the system tray, click on Show BT Devices, Then go to Phones & Modems (assuming you have a phone or something linked there) then click on it and properties. Then to SERVICES:
Uncheck the following:
1. NOKIA OBEX PC SUITE Services
2. NOKIA SyncML Services
3. SyncML DM Client.
This should do it!!Let me know if it works. -
hmm.... i tried this on my sony erricsson w890i.... when i go to services there are no services at all!? maybe it only works with a nokia or something? i'll fiddle around with it ang get back.
edit: hey i figure it was mmissing drivers for my phone.. thx falcon or whatever ur name is haha. im going to hunt for the drivers now. -
Some drivers need to be installed in a particular order. The link below explains this:
