    Hello everyone,

I just got my Dell 1520, the screen is much brighter than my IBM T42, which is good, but I also found out its a little bit dimmer at edges (about 2 inches to bottom at both left and right sides). I tried different viewing angles, it got better at certain directions but its still there. I cant say its obvious, but noticeable.

I also took some pics of the screen using my digital camera. (or just looking at screen through DC) Its much more obvious there. (I dont know if its the right way to test, any 1 knows?)

I've tested on external monitor, no problem found.

Just wondering, is it a common problem? Any suggestion?

That's pretty bad. None of the laptops that were on display at the Dell kiosk were that bad.

Almost all screens are going to have this. I am serious. Whether the individual customer notices it or not is the question.

ye, ur right. I checked my T42 and another Dell monitor today. By looking through camera I can tell both of them have slight uneven brightness issue; but i never noticed before. Guess the 1520 one is pretty bad.

just spoke with a dell representative and got it replaced. Its annoying they are gonna replace it with a refurbished one. I'll post pics when my 1520 comes back.
