So, I am testing this laptop before i send it back. Why does the battery last only about an hour?
-

Did you get the 6 cell or 9 cell?
-

My compaq presario v2710us lasts less than an hour. its a 6 cell and its a new battery.
-
WorkinProgress Notebook Evangelistwhat where you doing/ what settings did you have it on?
-

I have the 6 cell and it lasted me well over 3 hours. What were you doing for it to last only an hour?
-

World Of Warcraft - 6 Cell. maxed setting

deltafx1942 Notebook Consultant NBR Reviewerif you're playing a game, it will tax the gpu a lot and that really shortens battery life. when i play games on an 8 cell, i usually last about 1.5 hours before needing a recharge whereas i can usually get about 2.5-3 hours on normal usage.
-

No wonder. It doesn't make sense to play video games on battery power. I'm surprised it lasted an hour.
-

Have you tried to see how long it lasts on normal usage?
-

I have a 6 cell on another laptop and it lasts well over 2 1/2 hours. I guess you just can't game on a laptop without having it plugged in.

It just doesn't make sense to game on battery power...thats kinda a duh thing, imo. Full load and battery life just don't mix!
-

The funny about this is that to play WoW, you need to be on an active internet connection, which normally means you are in an area that has a receptacle nearby... So why wouldn't you plug in?
-
He might be playing on battery AND wireless internet--double the fun!
-

Could be playing while he takes a ****!
-
besides playing on battery automatically downgrades CPU/GPU/... speed, no?
-
 I don't think so. ^

Only if you tell your computer to throttle down in the power plan options. I keep mine on High Performance so it stays at full power and screen brightness even when unplugged.
