    Hi,

I've had my Dell 1520 for 18 months now and had next to no problems but today I turned on my notebook and was presented with a "Found New Hardware" window claiming Windows needed to install driver software for my "Bluetooth Peripheral Device"

I click the "locate and install driver software (recommended)", it searches for the driver and then asks me to install from a disc...which i don't have. Then when I check for a "solution online" it tells me my Broadcom Bluetooth Device isn't compatible with Windows Vista, yet i've been using it perfectly fine for the past 18 months...Help!

I tried uninstalling the Widcomm software I got from the Dell Website, restarting and then re-installing but I still get 2 "Other devices - Bluetooth Peripheral Device" in the device manager and this never ending cycle of asking for a driver to be installed.

Try doing a system restore? Possibly Windows Update or something like that borked your driver. Else it may be a hardware fault, but you don't hear about bluetooth devices breaking too often...

Yeah i've rolled it back a couple of days and so far, fingers crossed, it seems to be ok. So thanks :)

On a kind of related note, does anyone here have a SonyEricsson K850i and use the 1520's "355 Bluetooth 2.0 Module"? Everytime I try and pair the two it adds the new hardwear upto a point and then asks for me to install drivers for a "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" (sound familiar? lol). Does anyone know where I can get this "driver" from?

I've searched around a bit but not been very successful in finding any answers

The driver for your Sony Ericsson k850i would have been supplied in the box by Sony. I believe it is asking you this because your phone can act as a modem, and henceforth it sees it as such and requires drivers for it.

You could also try looking on the Sony Ericsson web site for drivers.

    Regards

    Ahhh ok, thanks a lot.
I don't like installing the whole "PC Suite" that comes with the Sony Ericsson phones, apart from the driver I wouldn't use any of it.
    Oh well
