    Hey guys,

I know a lot of you want benchmarks....well here you go :)

The benchmarks and stuff on the stock vista with no updated drivers or anything and all bloatware, mcafee crapscan installed and google desktop loaded (ALSO with ONLY 1GB RAM right now)

    Enjoy

Firstly, if you are interested about power usage so you can determine how much it costs to keep it running here is the load and 1minute idle usage:

    Idling for 1 minute:
    And Load:
    Battlefield 2 Load:
    Idle after 1 hour:

Last night I woke up and saw it only using 17w ! I will take a picture when I get home later so the laptop can idle for several hours

    About to run 3dmark2006.

EDIT: And here it is :)

    And here is Aquamark 3

    It's the 1.5GHz processor.

This should also answer many people's questions as to whether the 1.5GHz processor is fast enough :)

    Thanks for the benchmarks.

By the way, how did you hit 3100 on 06 when other people with higher specs couldnt get above 3,000 and had to boot with xp to get to about 3200?

I did the free version too...

Well I'm not done benchmarking yet! I am yet to do Counter-Strike: Source, Quake 4 Benchmark Demo, Doom3 Benchmark Demo and then overclocking the 8600M GT !

I will edit the first post as I do it.

virtuoso not everybody has that screen size. there are 3 different screen resolutions to chose from when you build your 1520.

ps2cho what is your screens native resolution?

ps my 1520 has the same exact specs so I am glad at the performance.

What i am really surprised about is the t5250's performance, it doesnt seem very less compared to the t7100 or t7300, which are great deal costlier... What gives?

It means that the cpu is not whats limiting the performance of the benchmarks. Also dont take benchmarks as the true test of the comps ability.

Games can be programmed differently , and uses shaers and things like that differently wich could mean different results then what 3dmark shows.

True. You can't go wrong with a faster processor...I was just stating that some people think 1.5GHz will be very slow! And it sure isnt!

In 6 months or so, I'll go upgrade to a T7300 and it will give me a nice performance boost :) Right now this laptop kicks ass!

Installing Battlefield 2, Supreme Commander, CS Source :)

Just curious what the Super PI 2M time is for that chip. Most reviews I see give the 2M time so it would be a better barometer to compare. Thanks.

SuperPi's practically worthless these days. At least use something like Cinebench if you want a better feel for processor performance.

Any others? I will be totally happy to do any benchmarks anybody wants because I know if it were me, I'd want to see !

2MB SuperPI and Cinebench coming up! Just waiting for Supreme Commander and Battlefield 2 Patches to finish.

thats not true, i think its very easy for a desktop to get over 5.0 on Vista score.
My 1.5 year old desktop with a Pentium D 2.8, 2gb PC2-4200 RAM, a 8600GT get the following Vista scores

    Processor: 4.7
    Memory: 5.2
    Graphics: 5.9
    Gaming Graphics: 5.6
    Primary Hard Disk: 5.6

so i can imagine any one that spend 600 bucks on a desktop over the past year getting 5.6

are you at all overclocked? because i only got 2800 3d marks. im going to redo the benchmark.

Btw for those of you who asked for ingame prefomance:

I run World in Conflict Beta on High, the benchmark gives me 3-7 fps with an average of 4 fps. tweek the settings and i can get DX10 most things on high with 8-12 FPS and an average of 10FPS

That is absolutely horrendous - then again, almost all the DX10 codelines are pretty much terrible these days (Call of Juarez, Lost Planet, CoH). Just take a look at some of the desktop benchmarks. Even the top end cards like the 8800GTX and HD 2900XT can barely push out decent frame rates.

hlcc I think your specs are PRETTY good.

And I think it gets harder as the numbers get higher too--meaning if you got 4GB of RAM it won't neccessarily increase by that much, etc.

If someone could give me a build that broke 5.0 I'd be convinced, but from what I've heard, MS made it RLY hard on purpose because they don't wanna give contemporary machines an easy high score (out of 6.0 max) and look stupid when the entire market holds a 6.0 in a year.

Ps2cho scored 3138 on a WSXGA (1440×900) and revoletion scored 2800 on a WSXGA+ (1680×1050). Do 3dmark06 scores reflect the size of the screen they're tested on or are they standardized to 1024x768 or whatever?

Hmm.. it is a puzzle. I can't see why two similarly equipped systems would get such different results... especially since the higher scorer had less system mem. I'm still thinking it's the screen size.

I just bought 3dmark2006 and it doesnt have the 1280x1024 resolution to pick from damnit!

Well about to run it now at 1440x900. I should see a large drop in the score :)

The free version of 3DMark06 runs at 1280x1024 - however it's also limited by the native resolution of the display.

So with a 1680x1050 it'll run at 1280x1024, whereas on a 1440x900 display, it should run at 1280x800, so netting a higher score.

Everyone running 3DMark06, please quality it with what resolution you're running it at. Otherwise it gets very confusing and misleading.

Wow, impressive! It's holding up decently even with 16X CSAA, although I'd definitely rather play it with 4X AA. Can never get enough FPS in those shooters.

That's what I thought and it would be too slow to play in the real game, so I benched it again with the 4x AA and it came out much nicer!

Installing Doom 3 right now and will do the Doom 3 Benchmark test on highest settings.

EDIT: On a side note, I just figured out you can do Aero with the windows key and tab :eek:oooooo !!!

Hmmm 1008MB? Does this mean hypercache or is that an error :O ?

    Yeah, TurboCache.

Damn, disable AA and maybe try High instead of Ultra settings. Most games would kill any midrange card with that level of AA (hence I was surprised at the CS:S scores). Plus Ultra uses a ton of textures, which is way more than the dedicated buffer of the 8600M GT, so it's probably offloading through TurboCache, which would severely affect performance.
