I just got my 1505 from dell.. it's the dual core 1.83 ghz... 1gb ram, with the 256k video card.

I don't know if i'm just ajusting the settings wrong or what...but the screen just looks really dark or dim to me compared with my brothers VAIO and my 1998 desktop.

I'm using the color adjustments on the 256 card. but adjusting the brightness, color, and contrast doesn't really make my monitor look that great. is there another way to adust the settings maybe on the keybord or something??? it's sucks seeing my screen so dark.

use the fn key + the up arrow. There should be a little blue logo on various buttons (including the up and down arrows) which tell you to use the fn key to perform certain functions.

What screen do you have? The matte or glossy?

If you have the brightness turned all the way up, the matte does look a bit dull in comparison to other screens. Sony/Fujitsu have some of the best screens, so the dell probably won't live up that brightness level.

I was messing with my dell 1505 on battery power and using the fn+ arrow up key made the screen (Truelife) plenty bright. You might want to check it out if you can find a friend with one.

I've noticed my matte screen doesn't look as bright as when I first got it when on full brightness running on AC, but that's probably because I'm used to how it looks now.
