    Hey all,

    Just a quick question I'm placing for a friend of mine in search of a laptop...

    What's the typical battery life on a new Dell 15.4" laptop...basic use such as Web, e-mail, etc...

    Sorry about the lack of model numbers...I'm kinda speeding through this post. I know he wants a 9-cell but I'm not sure what kind of time they ACTUALLY get. Dell claims 5 hours but I'd like to hear some real-world numbers...

    depends on the graphics card, cpu, what options you have turned on and what size cell you have. i can get almost 5 hours with a 9 cell battery, x1400 video card, wifi, and my screen at about 20%

    9 cell: idle;6 hours normal;about 5 hours

    4-5hrs is normal for the 9 cell. If your gaming you should be able to drain it in around 2hrs.

    i have 9 cel and 6 cel for a i6000.

    9 cel = 6 hrs, 6.75 hrs undervolted

    6 cel = 4 hrs
