I bought the 14z in black chainlink yesterday, and I was reading about how "magnetic" it was towards fingerprints, and also how the colored versions could be "that" much better. Is it a different material or is it just how much the fingerprints show?

Don't worry about it, now you will have a place to draw if you get bored.
-
Now you will be motivated to keep it clean. Other laptops get dirty too but they don't show it as well.

Just imagine if you have a white one instead of a black in the 14z.

The colored versions use a rubberized texture, where the black chainlink is glossy.
-
Well that answers why the colored versions were more expensive...
Should I try to add the color or will the chainlink be okay? -
It all depends on you and what your tolerance level is. Do you have an iPod, iPhone or something similar? If so, and the fingerprints drive you crazy, you have your answer.
If you've ordered it from Dell and want to change it, call the sales people, not customer service. The customer service people won't change an order. -
it's not the outside that bugs me, it's the inside chainlink that does.
-
Wait, so is the chainlink black easily scratchable as well?
Ugh...if I ordered my laptop on the website last tuesday, do you think i will be able to change the colour and NOT lose my deal (that i got last week)? -

Well, someone used an analogy of like having the same finish as an iPod. And it really pissed me off when there was a big scratch on the click wheel.
But yeah, it's such a pain to change my order, cause it might get resetted to scratch again? And I had some online discount thing, so guess i'm gonna get the black chainlink. It actually looks quite nice (the subtle design). I just hope it doesn't get scratched! haha -
can anyone take more pics of the inside chainlink?

Right now I'm considering getting an invisibleshield cover for my 14z, as soon as they post it, which i'm sure they'll have in a few months.
