    Hi all -

Buying a laptop for medical school and I have decided to go with the 1420, although the HP dv2500t seemed nice as well.

At any rate, my question is fairly simple. How does everyone here feel about the upgraded resolution available on the 1420 (1280X800 vs 1440X?).

I have never used the upgraded resolution.

    1. Is it worth the extra money?
    2. Is it difficult to read print at the high resolution?

    Thanks guys!

I think the 1440 x 900 resolution would be great. On my current laptop, I have 1680 x 1050, which is hard to read unless the laptop is close to my face. My g/f has 1280 x 800, which I think it way to large. IMO, I think 1440 x 900 is a great middle ground resolution. If I were buying that laptop, I would go for the higher resolution. Essentially, you will be able to have more data on the screen at the time. I don't know about med school, but this was super handy for me when I went through engineering.

If possible, go to a local store and just look at different laptop resolutions to get a better feel for text size, it really comes down to user preference.

    Hope that helps.

question on the screens. I just purchased an anti-glare screen for the 1420, and I was wondering if it is a TrueLife screen with anti-glare, or is it just a regular LCD with anti-glare. I was under the impression its just a regular screen, and that the two other GLOSSY choices were TrueLife. However, when i called Dell's support on the phone (OH FUN) the lady with whom I spoke said that all 3 screens are in fact True Life, even the anti-glare. This seemed counterintuitive so i asked her to check for me with someone, and she did, and said that she they are ALL true life. Now, i smelled BS, can anyone clarify that for me? Regardless, after hearing everyones moans and groans over the GLOSSY screens, i'm taking back my thoughts of switching to glossy. ANti-glare for me.
