I ordered a 1420 that I've yet to receive. However, yesterday I went to a friend's house and used his HP with 128mb integrated (shared) graphics, and his windows vista with aero lagged quite a bit. The "aero experience index" or whatever was rated 1.0. My 1420 has a 128mb DEDICATED card, but im still worried it might not be enough to run aero smoothly. Can anyone here with a 1420 describe his experience with vista so far? Is a 128mb ded card really enough to run it flawlessly? Thanks.

A dedicated card should run it fine. Integrated is generally crap.

Yh the 8400 GS will run it flawlessly. Nothing to worry about.

i have the integrated card w/ 2gb ram and 160gb hard drive and windows vista/aero works excellent...no lag whatsoever.

make sure you feed it with plenty of RAM. the onboard graphics can use a little help from the system ram.

x3100 is perfectly adequete and meets vista premium/aero requirements. -
I believe the stock WEI is around 3.7 (very different from 1.0)
