Did anyone use the $500 coupon for a 1420?? If so can you tell us the price and the spec of your computer. Thanks.

I want to see if Dell is tweaking the prices with their coupons.

For example, the $500 off coupon was for systems $1399 and up. The $300 off coupon is for systems $1199 and up.

Is Dell jacking up the prices for upgrades when they offer the $500 coupon and lowering them when they use the $300 coupon? It seems like the price would end up being the same, I never configured one when the $500 coupon was out.

Anyone know how Dell works these things?

    Well, here's how it works:

    1. You configure a computer.
    2. Dell gives you a price.
    3. You enter a coupon code.
    4. Dell removes said amount from price.
    5. You smile and purchase the computer.
    6. Profit!!!

Edit: Oh, and I left out the part where Dell has a conspiracy against you and are sending nanobots to steal your money. And your wife.

I wasn't asking for instructions on how to use the coupons.................. or whatever that is.

I reconfigured CrashOverride's 1520 at dell.com and it came out to be 1049 (1122 after tax) with the 300 off coupon. The prices are pretty much the same now if not slightly more. The only thing you are missing out is the $200 gift card. I missed the $500 off coupon because I hesitated and now am waiting for a better chance.......

Do you think they'll have a better coupon BEFORE February of 2008?

My config was $1014.00 plus tax, so there is only $35.00 difference in price between how much this specific system were priced in the middle of November and now in the beginning of December.

So all this stuff about $500.00 or $300.00 coupon just bogus. Looks like Dell raises prices a little on every upgradeable part with bigger coupons and lower prices a little on every upgradeable part with smaller coupons. In the end of the day, week, month or an Q, the price is about the same +- 3% difference

About $200.00 gift card - I know I'm eligible for it, but I am not even sure I am going to get it, because I've checked with 3 different agents via E-mail Dept. and they all sent e-mails saying that gift cards are not stackable with $500.00 coupon. Although the agent via Chat Dept. told me than I will get a $200.00 gift card in the mail in 4-8 weeks.

So, if Dell won't send me a $200.00 gift card, nor me, nor my relatives, nor my friends will ever buy from Dell ( and that's about thousand people)

It's all a marketing trick. They raise the price then offer the coupon and end up a little bit more or equal than the original price. For example.. I went to Costco before their coupon sale price and when the discount coupons came in the mail.. the price in the store went up about the same price discount. Now I scratch my head and say.. wassup?
