I recently connected my ipod and windows told me that it could perform faster if I used the usb 2.0 ports, instead of plugging it into the port I was trying. Well all of my ports have that same error. So I thought it might be the ipod, well windows says the same thing about my flash drive too. This wasn't a problem before.
The major changes to my laptop was the addition of avast!. My school requires it to connect to their wireless network. So I am at a loss as to why my ports are now not giving me the usb 2.0. Any ideas? Thanks

Try going into device manager and deleting the usb ports. Then reboot..see if when the ports are found if they are then correctly identified as USB 2.0 ports and drivers loaded.

That happened to me too, it seems to have just disappeared though for me. I didn't notice any loss in performance, but then I wasn't really doing anything where I needed the bandwidth.
Try what tomcatTX suggested, it might work, if not you could try reinstalling the chipset drivers. -
Thanks tomcatTX, that seemed to do the trick.
