    Dell 1420 Harddrive

    Does anybody what type of harddrive Dell uses in the 1420? Docs all say SATA but it looks like a PATA connector.

    Look in the hardware device manager click on the "+" in disk drives. Then google the model # and manufacturer.

    Thanks - I did that and it is a SATA drive. Dell is using an adapter for the drive on the 1420 and it could be the same for other current models. I looked at the drive with out removing it and it looked more like a PATA connection installed than a SATA. Decided to take a closer look after doing your suggestion and discovered the adapter.
