I am currently deciding on the 6-cell or the 9-cell battery. I understand that the battery on the 9-cell is about 3 and a half hours using the DVD player, but there aren't any information for the 6-cell battery.

Can anyone confirm the lifespan for the 6-cell? The half pound difference might make me want to choose the 6-cell battery instead.

If it's 3:30 with the 9-cell and since the 9-cell is a 85WHr battery versus 56WHr for the 6-cell, that calculates to about 2:20. Since most laptops that get something around 2 hours on a DVD test get around 3 hours with light productivity work, I'd guesstimate something around 3-3.5 hours for the 1420 and a 6-cell.

The configuration, of course, will also make a difference. (dedicated graphics, processor speed, etc)

3hr30m seems low for the 9cell.

even if the config is 2+ ghz and 8400

Take into account that this is for the DVD test. Productivity usage would probably net you something around 5 hours.

Screen at 50% brightness, both bluetooth and wireless on. Light firefox, AIM, and internet radio usage.

Little over 5 hr on the Inspiron 1520 in my signature.
