    Hi,

I have a Vostro 1700 that came with Vista. I removed vista & installed XP pro. The system is fast & boots quickly. Once I install the 1390 vista drivers (I found the 1520 insprion & took those XP drivers), the system boots fast, gets to the desktop & then hangs for about 4 minutes until the wireless icon starts to load.

Please keep in mind, this is with no wireless profile, the system doing nothing to try to connect to a network.

Once the icon loads, its another 20 or so seconds before it grabs the internet.

During the 4 minute delay, I cant do anything. I open "my computer" & there is a blank screen.

I have reinstalled XP 3 times & I am not sure what the problem is.

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks,
    Rich

Hello, I have a Vostro 1000 and the Dell Drivers and Utilities disk included various drivers for both Vista and XP. The reason I know this is that I had to load all of the XP drivers after a fresh install of XP. Perhaps the Inspiron driver you installed was not perfectly flush with the Vostro one and that the incompatibility is causing the hangup. I would suggest you load the correct XP driver for your 1500 from the Dell Drivers and Utilities disk. Hopefully that clears things up.

Well for 20 bucks on ebay, I ordered the 3945 wifi that was an option for the Vostro. I will see if that will help (thats what i have on my m1210 & it works great).
